Need Help Finding a book....

There's a historical book written in the 80's I think that I used to love and I don't remember the name of the author or the title, but the plot line kind of went like this...An English lady somehow gets taken into a harem (No this isn't the Sky O'Malley series or any by Beatrice Small), and she's rescued by a mysterious guy with an Arabic sounding name, and he seduces her, yada yada, but it turns out to be an English Earl who was actually an ambassador. Actually, she might have been in India now that I think about it. And she might have been the daughter of a diplomat who's father died while they were in India and this guy rescues her (the Earl) and he takes her back to England, and they get married. I think someone wants her dead because they thought she died in India because they stand to inherit her fortune. But this Earl she married is cunning and he saves her. And I clearly remember at the end of the book she gives birth to twins, a girl and a boy. The little girl she names Maryam. I think the boy twin was named Peter or it could have been the Earl's name that was Peter. I do remember that name being mention in the book. I think it was a dark cover, maybe black or dark blue, but I'm pretty sure it was black. I really would like to find this book and put in my keeper stack because I really liked it.

Isn't it sad that I remember little details like that, but can't think of the name of the book. If anyone can tell me what that story is or who that author is, I'd really really appreciate it.

The new blog is getting set up as we speak. I think you all will really like it. From my limited experience setting up my page and getting my goods on there and a trial post or two, it's easier to work with. WHICH I NEED. Blogger/Google whatever it's currently calling itself has been sucking as bad as Yahoo...which is bad. It looks like we're gonna shoot for a July 1st grand opening. Prizes, goods, man flesh... ahhh. But, alas, we will tell you more as the time approaches.

This month has been interesting for me. I was the recipient of an achievement/recognition award by Colorado Romance Writers, Inc. at their bi-annual conference, Romancing The Rockies. I am incredibly proud to say I received their Author Of The Year Award. Just as soon as it gets back to me from the engraver's, I'll post a picture.

For those of you on my loop, I still have almost no voice but it is steadily improving. It has probably been a nice breather for family, but my cell phone company even called to make sure I was okay because my usage had so drastically dropped!

Man, it's been a crazy time of year, no? I am back from yet another funeral. I'm completely exhausted and saddened . Normally on here we stay away from political things - but I ask you all just to take a moment of silence for those who serve and their families. Regardless of political stance these men and women are doing their jobs and many are dying. Freedom is not free. It never has. I don't see it ever being. But for my freedoms I am allowed and for the friendships I've known...thank you.

Kally Jo and I have played with the idea of having a reader weekend. Nothing big, but something fun. Ideas have been floated about Vegas, water parks(I do live within an hour of one of the highest rated ones, Schlitterban) or something fun like that. I am sure we will fit in a signing, but mostly it would be a chance to hang out with readers and have fun. Much like the cruise they have with authors, but cheaper and not on a boat in the middle of the water(Mel has issues)

The Accidental Countess was a work of love. Historicals are my favorite books to read and I can never seem to get enough of them. When I find an author I like, I tend to buy her whole backlist. So, when this was originally published, it was a bit shorter and not as sensual. I added to the scenes, deepened the plot, and I hope readers like the result. And, really, who can beat a cover like that. It was EXACTLY what I asked for.

Never in her life would she have thought the mere touch of his lips against hers would send her emotions spiraling out of control. But the kiss heated quickly, her body reacting immediately. Her breasts swelled, her lungs seized. Desire and need ignited. When he pulled back, she tried to follow him. He chuckled and she opened her eyes. Before she could reprimand him once more, he was tugging at her spectacles, pulling them off, tossing them on the table, and then returning to kiss her.

This kiss was no longer the innocent brushing of his lips against hers. He took her face into his hands, deepening the kiss. Passion singed a path along her nerve endings as she slipped her hands up his arms to his shoulders and buried them in his hair. Her nipples tightened. As if sensing it, he rubbed his chest against them, and even through the layers of clothing, it was pleasure and pain all wrapped up in one. She couldn’t seem to get enough of his body next to hers before he was pulling away again.

Confused, Colleen opened her eyes to see him getting to his feet beside the bed. Thinking that he was leaving, she opened her mouth to protest. Her breath came out in a rush as he tugged his nightshirt off. Even in the dim light and without her spectacles, she could see that he was beautifully naked. Every drop of moisture in her mouth evaporated as her gaze roved down his muscular chest. Yes, she had seen him practically naked in her cottage, but he had been half-conscious at the time. Now he stood before her, a golden god.

When her attention dipped from his chest to his abdomen and then farther, she panicked.

Good God.

He laughed. “I don’t know whether to be embarrassed or proud of the expression on your face.”

He climbed back on the bed but didn’t cover her body with his. She looked at his face as he grabbed the bottom of her nightdress. Instead of pulling it off her as she suspected, he took it in his hands and slid it up her body, his palms brushing over her skin. A rush of tingles followed the same path. As he bared her, she didn’t feel the cold air. All she could feel was the warmth of his hands, the heat of his gaze. She tried not to think of him seeing her completely naked, but it preoccupied her when the edge of the nightgown rose about her hips. She closed her eyes, trying to concentrate on the sensations he was causing. When he reached her breasts, his palms skimmed the sides, just the briefest of touches, and his thumbs grazed over her hardened nipples. She shivered.

A moment later she was laid bare for her husband to see. Colleen opened her eyes, but Sebastian never noticed. He kneeled between her outspread legs. As he stared down at her body, the look on his face erased all her doubts. Pure sensual hunger deepened the color of his eyes. At that moment, she didn’t care if she was plain Colleen Macgregor from York who accidentally married an earl. All she cared about was that this man, her husband, wanted her. He glanced up, smiling, but made no move to cover her. Instead, he brushed the backs of his fingers against one of her nipples. It tightened further, almost painfully. Again, her eyes slid closed as she allowed the sensation of his touch to seduce her body—her mind.

As he continued teasing that nipple, he leaned forward and took the other in his mouth. Relief filled her as she felt it close over her breast, but at the same time, frustration mounted. Liquid heat was now pouring through her, pushing her toward the pinnacle. Panic filled her chest, clogging her throat at the loss of control. It was true. She no longer held any control over her body. It was now Sebastian’s to use as he wanted.

Colleen wanted to protest, to tell him she didn’t like this feeling. At the same time, her body throbbed, clamored for his touch. Soon, he moved down her body, his lips brushing against her stomach, his tongue in her bellybutton, until he settled between her legs. She rose to her elbows, looking down at him. His head was level with her most private parts.

“Sebastian.”

He didn’t even glance up. Instead, he kissed each thigh, his tongue sneaking out against her skin.

This is still one of my all time favorite books, and these characters stuck with me. It was one of the reasons I wanted it longer and in print. Adding 30,000 words to it was NOT easy, but I am proud of the result.

“Max, I think you’ve had too much to drink.”
Her eyes sparkled with humor. She had the greenest eyes he’d ever seen. No hint of another color, just green. Like the lawn behind his home in springtime. No matter how flamboyant her personality, or how seductive she was, there was always a hint of intelligence in her eyes. Anna licked her lower lip. He followed the movement, entranced by the sight of her tongue flitting out over her fuller bottom lip. His dick hardened as he thought of her using that mouth and tongue on him. His balls twitched as he imagined the feel of her lips moving over his flesh, the heat of her mouth against his cock.
“What I was talking about is my problem with men.”
“You don’t have problems with men.” In Max’s opinion, men came too easily for her. For a girl who’d barely dated in high school, she’d made up for lost time. “You date too much.”
Anna collapsed against the arm of the sofa in a fit of laughter. “What you mean is I fuck too many guys. I don’t sleep with all of them, Max. But, on the other hand, I’m not embarrassed by my sexuality.”

It was wreaking havoc with his thought process. She kept talking about sex and each time she said the word it reminded him he couldn’t touch. Which just sucked, and—to quote Anna herself—not in a good way.
She poured herself another shot. Lick, drink, suck. Max shifted, trying to ease the ache in his balls. She purred, her enjoyment of the drink almost making him come in his pants.
Anna leaned back against the multitude of pillows piled on her red sofa. Her dark curls spilled over the vibrant colors. She made the perfect picture of a sensual gypsy. His heart smacked against his chest at the sight of her crooked smile.
“No, I think I figured out that I measure every man against you.”
The thought of Anna measuring men’s dicks with a ruler popped into his tequila-soaked brain. “You measure them? And how do you know how big I am?”
She stared at him for a moment. Confusion clouded her eyes, then dissolved into amusement. Her laughter filled the room.

“Oh.” The heat of embarrassment crept up his neck and into his face. Anna had been right. He’d had too damn much to drink, especially if he was thinking about Anna measuring his dick.
“All I know about you in that regard is the way you kiss. And you’re very good.” Anna shrugged one shoulder. “I guess everyone thinks first kisses are special, though.”
The memory he’d shoved to the back of his brain pushed forward. He’d been home after graduation, full of himself for doing it with honors. He’d come upon Anna crying over some boy. When Anna had told him she’d never even been kissed and begged him to, Max lost control and gave in to the urge that had haunted him for six months, since the last time he’d seen her. Maggie and I share a passion for the western. In NY pubslishing there has been a bit of a drought the last few years, but ebooks have provided an outlet for me:) Especially Maggie's and Beth Williamson's books. But there seems to be a resurgence of historicals coming about, thank the good LORD, and westerns seem to be getting some play.

So, I am working on my first western, The Seduction of Widow McEwan. It will be in the anthology, Leather and Lace, from Samhain and Becka Goings and Beth are going to be in it too. I have no idea what those two were thinking when they asked me, but they are stuck with me now, lol. Mine is an older woman, younger man, a little bit of bondage and suspense book(yeah, you know I never do anything in writing easy)

Anyway, if you like the western, what is it you like? Do you think the grittier westerns, more realistic are what we need? Would a paranormal element intrigue if you are normally not a western reader?

This was my first ever release. A little known fact is that Kally and I had our first releases together on the same day, just different publishers. A lot of this book was based on my time in college. I worked as the gopher for the Midwestern State University history department. It was all male, except for the secretary, myself and a few grad assistants, and as with many liberal arts colleges, a haven for the wonderfully eccentric. The excerpt is actually based on a true story from one of my friends who was teaching American History from 1865.
Although this is a rerelease, the ending is different and I believe this trimmed down version is much better:)

“And what did you say to your class after you substituted the word erection for election?” Grace’s best friend, Julia, asked during their lunchtime phone conversation.

When she’d awoken thirty minutes late that morning, the sun burning holes through her eyelids because she’d forgotten to close the blinds, Grace had known it wasn’t going to be a good day. When she sprayed the hairspray under her arm, then deodorant on her hair, she figured things couldn’t get much worse.

“First of all, I did not substitute the word,” she said. “You make it sound as if I did it on purpose. It’s not my goal in life to embarrass myself in front of a classroom full of college freshmen.” A classroom of freshman that happened to include Chad Albert, the college president’s son. The muffled sounds she heard over the phone made her suspicious. “Stop laughing! It’s not funny.”

“I’m sorry, Grace. I really didn’t mean to laugh, but you have to admit it’s funny.”

“I will do no such thing.” She winced at the prim sound of her voice.

She had noticed that spinsterish tone creeping in more often over the last couple years. If she wasn’t careful, she was going to end up adopting twenty cats and yelling at kids who stepped on her lawn. “It was just so humiliating. Thank the Lord it was close enough to the end of class that I could just dismiss them. Unfortunately, I have to give the same lecture to my five-thirty class.”

“Just block out the memory,” Julia suggested. “You know, like you did when you had that unfortunate incident at graduation.”

Grace lowered her head and pounded it on the desk. There were a lot of things that she loved about living and working in the same small college town in which she spent most of her life—the familiar faces, the regular routine, and the security. The fact that almost everyone she knew had attended her high school graduation and witnessed her valedictorian walk-up to the stage, with her dress and gown stuffed in her pantyhose, was not one of them.

She just wished she had worn underwear that day.

“I believe I begin to understand a thing or two about that.”

He laughed the sound warm and compassionate. “They walk a thin line, gilded with the greatest intentions for ungrateful souls.”

“So you say.”

Yestin examined her face then dropped his gaze to her hands. Somehow, his actions cherished her. Instead of feeling self-conscious or lacking, she found herself feeling competent, enough. She’d never felt like she was enough.

“We haven’t time to waste, but come, rest, steady yourself before they return.”

There was not time to rest. She felt the evil intentions of the brigands. Their thoughts pressed her mind, making her skin crawl. Gerardio was there as well, but he was a solid mass of nothing, his presence a tangible taunt. The empty void was more horrific than words, and he knew it.

“Can we not run?”

Yestin’s brow again furrowed. “Do you not tire? You have been running your whole life, little one. Has it gotten you where you desire to be?”

Tears burned her eyes. “Only this very instant.”

He didn’t wait; he crushed their bodies together. Wyen’s eyes widened for a brief moment before they fluttered shut. The kisses from the DreamWorld were nothing compared to the tingling reality of truth.

The heat from his skin seeped through the thin layers of his over-tunic. The material was soft and pliant and by far too much, for it kept her roaming hands from touching his flesh, kept her from exploring. She slipped her fingers between the buttons, sucking in her breath at the first contact between his springy chest hairs and the sensitive tips of her fingers.

Now was not the time for this, but at the same instant, it seemed the only time they had, and she was not going to squander it. Parting her lips, she granted him access to the warmth of her mouth.

I arrived at RT today. My flight went fine, but the ride from the airport was a trip. They have an automatic charge of $48 for a taxi ride from the airport, then a $3 "airport tax". What a rip off. Anywoo, I arrived to discover Lena and Maggie missed their flight and weren't going to arrive until dinner time. Although disappointed, I did a little exploring, checked out the pool and went shopping. Only problem, the weather sucked so no swimming and although I found some stuff to buy, my suitcases are so packed I decided not a buy anything because there would be no way getting the stuff home.

Lena and Maggie finally arrived and we went to dinner, hung out and generally decompressed from the traveling. We need our rest because tomorrow starts all the events. We'll be registering, chatting with all the readers and authors and preparing for our first party - The Ellora's Cave Moulin Rouge Party. I can't wait.

A girlfriend and I walk into Borders yesterday and I'm reluctant to go to the romantance section because, well, I've never seen one of my books on the shelf. It's down right depresssing to see so many books from my pubs and friends of mine on the shelf and not me. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to see so many of my friends of the shelf and it gives me a deep sense of satisfaction writing for such sucessful pubs, but I guess I wouldn't be human if I wasn't a little envious, and bummed. Anyway, I tell my girlfriend who wants to see if my book is on the shelf not to waste her time because I have been in several Borders and have yet to see it. Well, low and behold, in my local Borders in the romance section on the top shelf no less (it was alphabetized that way) I see a copy of A Night To Remember!!! I couldn't believe it. I was doing the happy dance. And then nutty fruitcake that I am, I started telling random people that was my book. my girlfriend even got a lady to buy it. LMAO!! Nothing can compare to that feeling of seeing one's work on the bookshelf for sale.

Also, I saw a copy of Lena, Maggie, and Liz's The Wedding Dress Anthology as well. It's actually the second Borders I saw that book at. Also I saw the latest Ellora's Cavemen book with featuring Miss Lena's Temperature Rising in it. Sexual Chocolate Rocks!!

Hey all - long time no talk. What has been shaking in your worlds? I have been incredibly busy and not at the same time. That cold/flu is still hanging on, making life more than a little difficult. The wind has been kicking up a notch too so that plays havoc with my headaches...oh the joy. However on the bright side. TEMPTING FATE with Mel is getting great reviews. NO NEUTRAL GROUND in apparently finally getting read by some folks - Which pleases me greatly since I'm so attached to that series. SUDDEN FALL will rerelease in it's new extended better just for you form May 1st from Samhain. Which we all know recently got it's RWA recognition. WHOOT WHOOT. The rewritten more detailed version of WHISPERED PROMISE will come out in November - that same month, I believe, should be when SF comes out in print! Tee Hee.

It's almost pring here in the west. I've been outside doing clean up. Tumbleweed city out there. You'd all be surprised at my handyman skill. Hmm that could sound wrong. What have you all been working on? Any big housing projects? Renovations? More planting, like Mel? Kids in the works? Marriages?

Taking a seat next to her on the bed, Constantine reached out to stroke her hair. "Sometimes I don't know my own strength. You've been so brave today, and it made me forget that you're not a full-blood."
"I'm not crying because you hurt me. It didn't hurt… that much." She sniffed.
"Then why the tears, mana mou?"
"It's just the culmination of this entire rotten day. When I woke up this morning, I was still my own woman, but then you walk into my life, and your family tries to take it over. I don't know what I have to do to make you all understand that if I stick around, your lives are at risk. I just want to go home."
His heart went out to her. Despite their short acquaintance, he'd discovered Sarah was a woman of courage and compassion. But she was also a lonely female who wasn't used to letting anyone in. Constantine wanted to smash those barriers of hers. He stretched his body next to her, spooning her delicately curved back.
Sarah's shoulders shook. He nuzzled the nape of her neck, wrapping an arm around her and pulling her closer. Listening to her soft cries tore at him. How could he feel so much for someone in so short a time?
"Sarah, it's okay. I'll keep you safe."
"You don't understand. I was doing just fine on my own."
He turned Sarah over to look into her tear-streaked face. "You don't have to be alone anymore." Unable to go another second without feeling her soft brown skin beneath his lips, he pressed kisses along the wet tracks on her cheeks, tasting their saltiness. She looked at him with sad, soulful eyes. His gaze slid to her lips.
Oh, that mouth. That sweet, plump mouth. With a groan, Constantine covered the very flesh he'd been fantasizing over since their first kiss. Sarah whimpered beneath his urgent lips, neither responding nor protesting. His tongue slid forward, gently pushing against the seam of her mouth.

Sarah's lips remained shut for a brief moment before she parted them with a sigh. He explored the sweet recesses of her mouth, leaving no inch unexplored. The tangy, sensual flavor of her sent a wave of passion spiraling up his spine. His cock grew hard as he rubbed it against her.
Sarah moaned and wrapped her arms behind his neck. Constantine felt as if he'd burst into flames with lust for this woman. Have you ever read a book you just couldn't put down? I love just about anything from Catherine Anderson, but Annie's Song is particularly touching about a deaf heroine who is violated by the rich town troublemaker and how his brother steps in to save the day. It was one of the most beautiful pieces of work I've ever read.

The last few weeks have kept me busy. I had a great time in Las Vegas, although who knew the NBA All Star game, the Chinese New year and Mardi Gras would all fall on the same weekend I decided to have fun. Needless to say it was BUSY!

Thankfully, I got to drive to California and see Lena after the rush of Vegas and have a nice relaxing time. Unfortunately, the one day we picked to go to Disney Land it rained. I told her it was my way of getting another invite out of her to come and visit again, LOL.

My flight home was uneventful if you don't consider the snoring woman behind me. I had to restrain myself from jumping over the seat and strangling her. Unfortunately, there were ice storms in Detroit and our landing was a bit bumpy, but we made it okay.

I slept most of the day, but had to be functioning on Monday because I had to drive 5 hours to Chicago for work. That was one boring conference, but I did my best to sneak out as often as possible to make phone calls and get a break from people trying to give me headache.

I'm back home now and contemplating how much crap I have to unpack and I really HATE to unpack. So many trips in such a short time doesn't bode well.

Hope the readers are doing well. Lena and I are desperately trying to finish a story and have missed our deadline, so we need to get back to work. Later!

Favorite Characters Contest

So, I am revisiting with Chris and Cynthia from A Little Harmless Pleasure, cleaning it up and making it longer for its August release. It has been fun to get back with them and play, and I am now anxious to write, A Little Harmless Obsession, Chris and May's story. But I got to thinking about my favorite characters, on film, tv and in books, thinking about how often I revist them, even in reruns or rereading books. Like, I LOVE Talk Radio. I watched it religiously when it was on TV and we just recently bought the DVD collections. One of the best ensemble casts ever on TV. But then, my books are more important. They take center stage. I got hooked onto the MacGregors with Nora, along with several of her other books, like the Chesapeake Bay books, and I LOVED the Cynster novels from Stephanie Laurens. Her new one is just out, or about to be released and you can BET I am buying it, lol. But there are other characters who have never gotten their books. Like, the little brother, Jason, in All Night Long(my FAVORITE Krentz book, and that is saying a lot because she is one of my favs). I really want him to have his own book. Maybe not right now, but in a few years.

So, tell me. Who are your favorite characters you watch or read, over and over. And, what character, if any, would you like to have thier own book, movie or show?

My fat ass is shrinking. Since January, I've been practicing saying no to seconds and skipping desserts and it's starting to pay off a little at a time. My total weight loss is now 14pounds. It hasn't always been easy walking away from the snacks, but I think the end result will be worth it. Wow, this is definitely the longest I've kept a New Years Resolution. We're soon headed to March and I'm still going strong. For how long? I'm not sure. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

i leave on my vacation tomorrow. YEAH! But the weather is conspiring against me. It snowed yesterday and we got 8 inches. Everything is closed today while the city digs out. Which screws with my plans royally. I was supposed to go to the salon to be made beautiful today, but NO, all my appointments got cancelled. I was going to go to the bank today, but NO, all the banks are closed. Now I'm worried that something will happen to cancel my flight tomorrow. So, I'm asking everyone to send good weather thoughts my way so I can hopefully fly out of the artic tomorrow and into the land of warm weather. LOL. Thanks, Liz

Good night nurse! Changing over to the new blogger about killed little old me. Ok, not really. It was numerous other problems on top of that, but this was the last straw!

I'm really looking forward to Florida especially since the weather here has been so cold. I am sure Mel can't wait to be with a little smoother weather front and so far the weather channel says we are clear. However, we tend to take the front with us. Or so it seems. Still, I am excited.

Today is the godbaby's birthday! (One of the 3) It's weird to watch them grow up so fast when I don't feel that much bigger.

I had a booksigning in Corona, California last Saturday with Lena Matthews, Maggie Casper, Sylvia Day and Verna Hargrove (Christian romance author). Needless to say, I had so much fun with the girls because they're so CRAZY!! Maggie, as always, looked cute and feminine. Lena was rockin' her boots and her very impressive cleavage. *g* Me? The usual. Blah.

I want to thank Jackie and Sherrie of The Book Ladies in Corona. Such an awesome place to have a booksigning. They took care of us like you wouldn't believe and even fed us lunch. I love the fact they they have such a close relationship with their customers!

The Get Fit Get Healthy Club

I started a new yahoo group today called the get fit get healthy club, basically a support group for those who want to lead a healthier lifestyle. I was spurred on because I began a weightloss regimine at the beginning of January, and I've lost 12 pounds so far.
